Chalets and Hotels in Val d’Isere

Val d’Isere and Tignes
combined create the Espace Killy, one of the best known and best loved ski
areas in the Alps. Val d’Isere has long been
considered the superior resort of the two, with its charming high street, and
superb access to some of the best off piste in France. Thankfully there is a
superb selection of chalets and hotels in Val d’Isere to choose from. Val
d’Isere is broadly split into four villages: Val d’Isere, Le Laisinant, La
Daille and Le Fornet. The best chalet accommodation is in the first two of
these villages. Chalet Nanouk in the centre of Val d’Isere village is an alpine
dream come true. A large and imposing free-standing chalet, slightly set back
from the main thoroughfare but close enough to the pistes and the night life,
offers spacious and very comfortable accommodation for groups as large as
fourteen. With the added features of a hot tub and steam room, as well as being
decorated in a sympathetic Alpine style, this chalet is your foundation to a
great skiing holiday. Chalet Ava, set yards from the Le Laisinant lift, again,
offers spacious and fantastic chalet accommodation for groups of eight, that
want the peace and quiet of a small alpine village, with the lively and kicking
atmosphere of a world class party resort, just minutes away.

The hotels in Val
d’Isere befit its reputation as being one of the leading ski resorts in the
world, by offering luxury accommodation and services to the evermore demanding
high end customer. The Hotel Christiania,
boasting four stars, not only offers gorgeous sumptuous bedrooms, but also a
stunning spa and restaurant. The Hotel Kandahar
may only have three stars, but still manages to be one of the most popular
hotels in Val d’Isere, with its blend of great value, comfortable accommodation
and enormous charm. Val d’Isere offers some of the great test ski holidays in
the world, and with the selection of chalets and hotels, everyone will be able to
enjoy the impressive Espace Killy, and the superb skiing that it has to offer.

For more information on Chalets in Val d'Isere and Val d'Isere Hotels, please visit Powderwhite.com

Meribel Hotels and Chalets

Meribel sits nestled
right in the heart of the Three Valleys, one of the most impressive ski domains in France. Strict
planning and development has meant that as a resort, it has been spared the
ugly utilitarian accommodation that is the blight of so many French resorts,
and has managed to maintain an Alpine charm all of its own. Meribel is resort
of chalets – as one enters the resort, one is struck by the sheer number of
free-standing chalets that are perched on the mountainside. Hence Meribel offers
one of the widest choice of chalet accommodation out of any of the European Ski
resorts, from the cheap and not so cheerful, to high class and high quality.
Chalet Grange de Marie falls into the latter category – an imposing chalet,
sleeping up to ten people with five bedrooms, five bathrooms (all ensuite), a
large sitting and dining area with a blasting wood burner, and to top it all, a
21st century infra-red sauna with built in sound system. If you are
after smaller accommodation, the newly converted Silvana sleeps seven, and is
spitting distance from the pistes. Whilst the hotels in Meribel are not as
numerous as they are in Courchevel, what they lack in quantity, they certainly
make up for in quality. The charming Hotel Allodis is set right on the slopes
and has good selection of rooms and suites, with a lovely restaurant, swimming
pool and hammam.

Up in the satellite village of Meribel Mottaret,
there is a great selection of apartments and chalets, that whilst does not
offer the same level of night life as Meribel, does offer unparalleled access
to the skiing, being able to choose between all of the areas of the Three Valleys.
The Chalet L’Arclusaz is a stunning example of accommodation that would suit
the most discerning of skiers. Freshly refurbished in the summer of 2007, this
wonderful five bedroom, five bathroom apartment, with a sauna and a Jacuzzi
with views stretching across the valley, is the perfect end to a hard day on
the pistes. Overall, the hotels and chalets in Meribel offer huge variety,
choice and most importantly, one of the greatest ski domains in Europe.

Courchevel Chalets and Hotels

Courchevel, split into
four villages at different altitudes offers a whole range of accommodation
options to the discerning traveller. Courchevel 1850, the highest of the
Courchevel resorts, boasts some of the most luxurious hotels and chalets in the
Alps. The Hotel
Chabichou and the Hotel Les Grandes Alpes offer superb
quality accommodation, and the Chabichou even has its own two Michelin star
rated restaurant. The other fantastic hotel in Couchevel is the Rond Point des
Pistes, with instant access to the slopes and some of the best skiing in the Three Valleys.
Courchevel 1650, the next village down, is also catching up with its sister
resort, with the Hotel Seizana and the newly build Hotel Manali, transforming
what was a sleepy alpine village, into a cosmopolitan and lively resort that
now challenges the pre-eminence of its better know sibling, Courchevel 1850.

Both Courchevel 1850
and Courchevel 1650 have a huge choice of chalets and apartments to choose
from. A chalet holiday differs from a hotel as it is more relaxed, the space is
your own, and depending on the operator you choose, it is a more flexible
arrangement. Often serviced with staff who cook and clean for the guests,
chalets in Courchevel can be ideal for family holidays, of for groups of
friends who want a more bespoke experience. From the vast free standing chalets
on Millionaires Row in Courchevel 1850, to the smart central apartments in the
centre of Courchevel 1850, such as Charlie, Foxtrot and Oscar, an increasing
range of accommodation is being made available over the season. Chalets in
Courchevel 1650 offer better value, especially for larger groups, that can
occupy the stunning Aigle d’Or or the Nid d’Aigle, which are both convenient to
the lively village centre and the slopes. Chalet Picasso offers the welcome
additions of a hot tub and sauna, whilst the Penthouse, a modern chalet-style
apartment dominates the village, with stunning and far reaching views.
Alternatively, for the more traditional chocolate-box chalet experience, Chalet
Estive is picture perfect. The range of styles and sizes of properties is
enough to suit the needs of most skiers and boarders, and all offer access to
the almost unsurpassable skiing in the Three Valleys.
