What is the weight of the truck prior to your load?  If you are sharing a load with other moves, are they going to weigh the truck before and after your load and show you the weight ticket?

If they do charge by weight, will you go with them at a major interstate to see them weight the truck to prove your weight? In most state, weigh stations are located in major interstate which makes it difficult for the customer to follow the moving truck to the weigh scale to determine the true weight of their load? In truth, the cost to deliver one's stuff long distance is not related to one thing.  The true cost to deliver goods long distance is a function of mileage, weight and labor to load and unload the truck at either pick-up or delivery. Companies that charge the customer based on solely weight will under charge you based on an estimate and overcharge you, after adding a couple of cars in their trailer prior to weighing it and showing you the weight ticket at that point. So what will happen to you? You will pay for a weight that IS NOT YOURS!!!!!!!

BUYER BEWARE! Do not be a victim of these scams. Make sure the chosen company provides you with enough explanation of their services and costs so there will be NO SURPRISES! Ask the right questions! Is there any long carry charges? IS there any elevator charge or stairs charges? Are there any other charges that you need to know now before all your belongings are in their hands and you won't see them for a long while!

Also, make sure that all the appropriate questions are answered and that the right paperwork is signed and approved by the head management and not just the sales person. It is easy for a company to say: " Ah well, this employee who promised you this rate has been fired because it is too low of a price, we can't accept this low rate" They will point finger to an employee for them to easily charge you twice or even triple the rate. Make sure to always have the supported documentation signed by highly placed individuals in the company, either the manager, the Vice-president or the President himself. If it is approved by them, you are sure to be promised the discounted rate for your move.
